LEGOrytmus
This piece was produced by the tYhle collective.
A production inspired by the Olympic Games, fitness and the Czechoslovakian Spartakiades during the communist period, in LEGOrytmus a team of comical gymnasts loosely obey the codes of sport and surprise us with their original sporting disciplines.
This optimistic team embraces the absurd, freeing itself from all set rules to verge on abstraction and purposeless movement.
Form, formation, order, duty, convention, submissiveness, conformity, rhythm, performance… right, left, right, left, one, two, three, four!
Over the years, the piece’s performances have taken different forms:
- classic, for four performers
- scholastic, in school gyms, followed by a discussion with the pupils
- in situ and peripatetic, with the participation of the public
