Unknown Coefficient, a contemporary dance piece for five performers, seeks to break down an instant in order to unwind it, turn it inside out and bring out its beauty and horror. The moment when opposing forces come together to create a single material: power/fear, perseverance/abandonment, rebellion/regard. Creating a dance of contrasts between jerk and flow, aestheticism and emotion.
The subject is the coexistence of opposite emotions at the moment when of the break, when the reasonable no longer exists! The first source of inspiration for this piece is Jacques-Louis David's painting Les Sabines, representing the moment just before the confrontation, the clash, a stopped moment. Just before violence and gentleness, blindness and rebellion, intertwine.
